Pretzel Toffee Bark

Ingredients

  • 3 cups mini pretzels

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

  • Flaky sea salt, optional

  • Colorful M&Ms, optional

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350℉. Line a rimmed baking tray with parchment paper.

  2. Arrange the pretzels in a single layer on the baking tray.

  3. Combine the butter, brown sugar, salt, and vanilla in a small saucepan. Melt over medium heat, stirring constantly. Bring to a gentle boil for 3-4 minutes until the toffee becomes thickened and glossy.

  4. Immediately pour the liquid toffee over the pretzels. Use a spatula to spread it evenly. 

  5. Place the toffee-covered pretzels in the oven for 8-10 minutes, or until they are bubbling all over.

  6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips over the toffee. Bake for an additional 3-5 minutes, then use a spatula to spread the chocolate over the toffee.

  7. Immediately top with M&Ms and flaky sea salt, if desired. Chill in the refrigerator until the toffee is firm and the chocolate is set.

  8. Break into rustic pieces and store in an airtight container.
