Classic Dutch Baby Pancake

Ingredients

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup whole milk

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2½ tablespoons granulated sugar

  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 3 tablespoons salted butter

  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 425℉. Place a 9-inch oven-safe skillet in the oven while preheating.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, milk, eggs, sugar, and vanilla. Use a hand mixer on medium speed to blend well and remove any clumps. 

  3. Once the oven has preheated, remove the skillet and add the salted butter. Use a basting brush to brush the melted butter along the bottom and sides of the skillet.

  4. Slowly pour the batter into the hot buttered skillet. Use a heat-proof spatula to evenly spread the batter across the bottom.

  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then reduce oven to 375℉ and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes. The center should be lightly browned, and the edges will be darker browned.

  6. Remove from the oven and cool in the skillet for a few minutes then dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately. Enjoy!
