Banana Pudding Cake Trifle

Ingredients

For the cake:

  • 1 box of banana flavored cake mix

  • 1 cup whole milk

  • 4 large eggs

  • ½ cup vegetable oil


For the filling:

  • 1 box (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding

  • 1 cup whole milk

  • 2-3 ripe bananas, thinly sliced


For the decorating:

  • ¾ cup heavy whipping cream

  • ¼ cup premade cream cheese frosting

  • Nilla wafer cookies, for decorating

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350℉. Line two 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper and set aside.

  2. Make the cake: In a large bowl, combine cake mix, milk, eggs, and vegetable oil. Whisk until well-combined.

  3. Divide the batter between the two cake pans and evenly spread the batter with a spatula, if needed.

  4. Bake the cakes in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean.

  5. Allow the cakes to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack. 

  6. Make filling: In a medium bowl, combine the pudding mix and milk. Whisk well until just starting to thicken. Set aside.

  7. Make the topping: Pour heaving whipping cream into a medium bowl. Use an electric hand mixer to whip until stiff peaks form. Add cream cheese frosting and whip again until combined. Set aside.

  8. Evenly spread half the pudding into the bottom of a trifle dish. Top with sliced bananas, and place one cake over the bananas. Spoon the remaining pudding over the cake, add sliced bananas and top with the second cake. Use a spatula to cover the cake with the whipped cream frosting over the top cake. Decorate with Nilla Wafer cookies. 

  9. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes then serve. Enjoy!
