Baked Apple Walnut Crisp

Ingredients

For the filling:

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • 4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced

  • 1½ tablespoons whole milk


For the topping:

  • ½ cup old fashioned oats

  • ¼ cup walnuts, chopped

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup packed dark brown sugar

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350℉.

  2. Make the filling: In a large bowl, combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well. Add apples and toss to coat completely. Add milk and vanilla then toss again.

  3. Pour apples into an 8x8 glass baking dish.

  4. Make the topping: In a medium bowl, combine oats, walnuts, flour, and brown sugar. Add butter and mix lightly with a fork until large crumbles form. Don’t overmix.

  5. Evenly spread crumble topping over apples.

  6. Bake apple crisp in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden and the apples are bubbling.

  7. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
